wolfborn_wereWerewolves have a mild telepathic connection with each other. It is generally strengthened by proximity and emotional closeness, so a cohort pack can develop it just as well as siblings in a natal pack. This ability to share thoughts and feelings also extends to natural wolves.
And since werewolves have the wolf form that is indistinguishable from that of a normal wolf, there are times that interbreeding can occur.
That is the case with Emery Deluca -- that was the name given to him by his werewolf father. His mother always thought of him as Blue Eyes, for she was a wolf, and those were his most striking feature. Emery is a wolfborn, and it is understood among werewolf kind that they rarely take human form and do not often enjoy it.
Em's cohort pack had formed slowly around himself and his best friend Hollis. The pair were very close and shared much of the responsibility of keeping things running smoothly in the group. But Hollis began to listen to those who said he should be the only 'alpha' of the pack... and he plotted to remove Emery from the picture. Not by killing him, oh no... by cursing him into one form. His human form.
